"DIVINE INTERRUPTIONS & DIVINE APPOINTMENTS"

By: Donna Selma Lind

OKAY, I ADMIT IT.
I 'M A GOAL ORIENTED, AMBITIOUS, LIST MAKER,  SCHEDULE TAKER, ORGANIZING JUNKIE!  I LIKE ORDER, PRODUCTIVITY AND EVERYTHING TO BE NEAT AND TIDY! I LIKE TO WORK! NO ROOM FOR LAZY IN ANY OF MY BONES!
I'M A PLANNER. EVERY MORNING SINCE I WAS A KID I MAKE A LIST , A ROAD MAP OF THE JOURNEY I PLAN TO EMBARK  ON FROM SUN UP TO SUN DOWN. I'M A WORKING BEE!
REST IS FOR WIMPS!
( I'VE  BEEN TOLD I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MARINE CORPS DRILL SARGENT!HE -HE:)

MY GOAL FOR THE DAY IS TO CHECK OFF ALL MY GOALS FOR THE DAY!  :)

SO, WHY IS IT THAT I SEEM TO ALWAYS HAVE LEFTOVER UNFINISHED GOALS THAT MAKE IT TO THE TOP OF TOMORROWS LIST?
THERE IS USUALLY A DISTRACTION OR INTERRUPTION THAT I DIDN'T PLAN FOR. SOMETHING OR SOMEONE THAT NEEDS MY ATTENTION MORE THAN THE GOALS ON MY LIST.

I USED TO GET FRUSTRATED AND ANNOYED AT THESE INTERRUPTIONS . THROUGH THE YEARS THE LORD HAS BEEN TEACHING ME TO RECOGNIZE WHEN THEY ARE DIVINE INTERRUPTIONS AND DIVINE APPOINTMENTS FROM HIM AND WHEN THEY ARE DISTRACTIONS FROM THE ENEMY.
AS THE SCALES FALL FROM MY EYES AND MY HEART I AM LEARNING TO EMBRACE THE DIVINE INTERRUPTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS FROM MY HEAVENLY FATHER.
I AM LEARNING TO LET GO OF MY OLD LEGALISTIC AND RIGID WAYS OF HAVING THINGS MY WAY AND IN MY TIME FRAME.
PART OF BEING FREE IN CHRIST IS LETTING GO OF THE ROPES, DROPPING MY SAIL AND ALLOWING HIM TO STEER MY BOAT.

THE LORD DIRECTS THE STEPS OF THE GODLY.   HE DELIGHTS IN EVERY DETAIL OF THEIR LIVES.
PSALM 37:23

SO WHAT IF I DON'T GET ALL THE GOALS ON MY LIST CHECKED,  MY HOUSE ACTUALLY IS DUSTY AND I HAVE A FEW DISHES IN THE SINK. NEWSFLASH........ IT'S OKAY.  I'M NOT PERFECT! I NO LONGER SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF.
JESUS CAME TO LIVE IN MY HEART AND I'VE BEEN SET FREE!  HALLELUJAH!
THIS PAST WEEK HAS BEEN FULL OF DIVINE  INTERRUPTIONS & APPOINTMENTS. SOME HAVE BEEN PROFOUND SUCH AS GIVING AN ENCOURAGING WORD TO A YOUNG MAN WHO WAS IN A CRISIS. PRAYING WITH A WOMAN WHO LOST HER DAUGHTER.  TALKING WITH A TEENAGER WHO IS STRUGGLING WITH AN EMOTIONAL DISORDER.
SHARING THE JOY OF THE LORD WITH THE UPS DRIVER!
I DID NOT HAVE THESE PEOPLE OR SITUATIONS ON MY SCHEDULE....BUT GOD DID AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!

DIRECT MY FOOTSTEPS BY YOUR PROMISE, AND DO NOT LET ANY INIQUITY RULE OVER ME.
PSALM 119:133

I WANT TO STAY OBEDIENT TO HIS WILL AND STAY OPEN TO HIS PLANS EVEN IF I DIDN'T HAVE THEM ON MY LIST OF GOALS FOR THE DAY! THE THINGS I DIDN'T GET DONE WILL MAKE IT ON TOMORROWS LIST AND IF THEY ARE NOT PART OF GOD'S DIVINE PLAN THEY ARE NOT IMPORTANT!
HOW DO I KNOW IF IT IS A DIVINE INTERRUPTION FROM GOD OR A DISTRACTION FROM THE ENEMY?
I  HAVE TO ASK MYSELF THESE QUESTIONS: DOES THIS GIVE GLORY TO THE KING? DOES IT PRODUCE LOVE, JOY, PEACE AND FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT?
IF IT CAUSES CONFUSION, DIVISION AND DOES NOT BRING PEACE IT'S EASY TO SAY IT IS NOT FROM THE FATHER.

I AM LEARNING TO ENJOY THE LIFE THAT HE HAS GIVEN ME. NOW I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT MY HEAVENLY FATHER HAS PLANNED FOR US
 NEXT!
WE CAN MAKE OUR PLANS, BUT THE LORD DETERMINES OUR STEPS.

"SWEET FELLOWSHIP"

Angel our female Llama was quietly nibbling on hay in the far east pasture when the trailer came clunking down the driveway. The gate opened and out galloped a tall and handsome male Llama.

"SPOT"
Angel stopped, her head and ears perked up. She turned and there she saw the Stud standing proud and tall near the gate. Their eyes met from across the field...(insert romantic music) and they galloped full speed towards one another. Without  hesitation they rubbed noses and necks. A short conversation of  melodic humming songs ensued before they ran off into the woods and sunset together.

"Romantic Dinner for Two"

Though Angel and Spot had never met before they knew that they were made for each other!
It was love at first sight. Instant companions.

"Spot is Angels special someone"

Did you know God created someone  special just for you?
Did you know God created you for someone special?
That's right. He created us for companionship and fellowship.
He says that two are better than one. We are to love and encourage one another.
Romans 12:10
Love one another.

The Father sends people into our lives to help us and bless us .
The enemy sends people into our lives to distract and destroy us.
Jesus came to give us life more abundantly! He wants us to enjoy life and sends us like minded brothers and sisters to stir us up and encourage us. We are to help one another.
Galatians 6:2
Bear each others burdens.

Who are the people you are surrounding yourself with? Who are your companions?
Do they encourage and lift you up? Or do they discourage and drag you down?
Do they come along side you and help you down life's path ?
Or do they suck the energy and life from you? Do they add or subtract from your life?
Do you feel life or death when you are around them?
Whatever we surround ourselves with we will become. Good or bad.
1 CORINTHIANS 15:33
Bad company corrupts good character.

It is a New Year. Many of us are cleaning out our closets and pantries. Getting rid of the junk. Maybe it is time to clean out some of our toxic relationships and close some old chapters that are hindering new chapters in our lives.
In order to go forward into what God has new for us we need to let go of the bad and make room for the good .

It is in fellowship with other Christian brothers and sisters where we will be encouraged and grow into all God has destined for us.

Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, encouraging one another.

Colossians 2:2
That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love.

"I have found my Beloved fellow companion. My sweet Spot."

Psalm 55:14
We who had sweet fellowship together walked in the house of God.
Amen.

HALLELUJAH!

" ON EAGLES WINGS "

Recently my husband noticed a flurry of activity down by our pond.

"PARADISE POND"

At first we thought the Buzzards  were circling . Upon closer inspection and to our amazement it was two Bald Eagles! A Daddy Eagle and his young eaglet !
It appeared they were on a hunting journey . The Daddy sat perched  high upon the top of a tall tree while the baby practiced his flying and diving  techniques above the water.  Junior dove into the water and plucked up a fish a couple of times while his proud Daddy keenly observed the activities from his nearby branch.

"DADDY EAGLE"

Baby kept this repetitive performance going until he seemed to disappear under the thin layer of ice that was left in the corner of the pond.  We saw his wings flapping furiously fighting with something and trying to escape. Back and forth he struggled fighting to get free, each time he surfaced he went back down under the black water longer and longer until he didn't come back up.
Suddenly his head emerged. He flapped tirelessly for a moment, rested and then gathered all of his strength to lift himself up ascending higher and higher on the wind of his wings .
"ON EAGLES WINGS"

We watched breathlessly as his Daddy joined him in flight .Together they flapped their enormous wings soaring high above the trees until they were a speck along the horizon.
It wasn't until later that we discovered  that this bird of prey was struggling to fly off with it's bounty.....a Duck decoy that was anchored with lead weights!
Every time he'd get a hold of it , the anchored duck pulled him under.
Can you imagine how disappointed he must have been to capture a large duck only to find out it wasn't real!
He did not give up easily. He fought the good fight ! All along his Daddy was watching over him. Allowing his child to learn a valuable lesson while never leaving his side.
"WATCHING OVER YOU"

Our Heavenly Father does the same for us. He allows us to go through trials and struggles in order to teach us and make us stronger. He doesn't leave our side and when the time comes he will swoop down and rescue us and carry us when we are weary. When the enemy and circumstances seem to pull us under and we don't have the strength to fly on our own, Our Abba Daddy will be there to cover us with his wings.

One day we  will soar with him high into the heavens of Glory.
"Hallelujah, by and by I'll fly away dear Jesus."

There are 33 scriptures in the Bible about Eagles. The Father has given us Eagles as an example to learn from. I encourage you to meditate on some of these verses and see what God has to say to you.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Deuteronomy 32:11
"Like an Eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on his pinions."

Isaiah 40:31
" Yet those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like Eagles. They will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary."

Psalms 103:5
"He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the Eagle's."
